Itel and Tecno, both brands of Transsion Holdings, have announced a 60-day warranty extension in India amid pandemic lockdowns in several districts. The companies separately announced that only smartphones and feature phones whose warranty expires between April 15 and June 15 are eligible. Eligible smartphone owners would then have to register their devices in the CarlCare Mobile application before June 30, 2021, following the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the country and following in the footsteps of several other manufacturers who, due to lockdown regulations, would prevent customers from Visit service centers, offer extended warranties. Transsion India has listed a few steps to assist Eligible Owners in extending their warranty.

The announcement of the extension of the warranty for Tecno and Itel smartphones and feature phones was made via a series of Tweets. Some smartphones and feature phones are eligible if their warranty expires between April 15 and June 15. However, authorized users must apply for the CarlCare Mobile application. Users can download the app from the Google Play Store.

How to extend the warranty for Tecno and Itel telephones

  1. Download the CarlCare app from the Google Play Store
  2. Open the CarlCare app and click the Warranty button on the home page
  3. Check the validity of your device by entering IMEI
  4. If your device is available for renewal, you will see a 60 day warranty option. Click Receive to extend the warranty.

“The second wave of coronavirus imposing lockdown and movement restrictions has once again made us stay indoors and limit consumer reach to products and services,” said Arijeet Talapatra, CEO of Transsion India, in a press release.

Other brands that recently announced warranty extensions due to the COVID-19 lockdown regime are Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo and Poco. Similar steps were taken last year during the previous major lockdown period.
