It is apparently the end of the road for them Galaxy Note series and to keep S Pen users, Samsung has extended the stylus experience to the Galaxy S21 Ultra and announced plans for its launch Support for more device categories in the future. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is very likely to come with S Pen functionality and while there is no evidence to date that the Z Flip 3 also works with a digital pen, a new report from Let’s go digital implies that we shouldn’t rule out the possibility.
The report is based on a recent trademark application filed by Samsung for the nickname “Z Flip”. Here is the description for the brand: ‘Smartphones, tablets, protective cases; electronic pen; capacitive pen ‘.
What makes the filing interesting is that a brand filed for ‘Samsung Z Flip’ in February 2020 does not mention an electronic pen and a capacitive pen. This suggests that Samsung is considering pen backing its clamshell phones. While brands aren’t a guarantee that something is on the move, they’re often the earliest indication of a company’s plan.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is said to have a sturdier ultra-thin glass (UTG) to withstand the pressure of the pen. The pen itself is specially designed for flexible phones. If all goes well, Samsung can extend pen support to the Z Flip 3 successor.
