Cat is known for its heavy duty equipment, which it sells to construction companies such as backhoe loaders, tractor units, asphalt pavers, compactors, backhoes, hydraulic mining shovels, and more. When debris needs to be dug, moved, and collected, Cat provides the equipment needed to get the job done. Cat also offers a range of rugged Android phones.
The latest model of this type is the Cat S62 Pro. All Cat brand cell phones are manufactured by the UK Bullitt Group. Originally unveiled last July, the device features a thermal imaging camera that delivers four times the thermal resolution of the 2018 S61 model. A new mode allows a user to overlay a thermal image with a regular 12 megapixel photo taken by the phone’s rear camera. A user can also be notified via an alarm when a certain temperature level has been photographed with the thermal imaging camera.
The Cat S62 Pro has a 5.7-inch display with 1080+ and the Snapdragon 660 chipset is under the hood with 6GB of storage and 128GB of storage. There’s a rear-facing 12-megapixel camera and a 4000 mAh battery keeps the lights on. As a robust device, the Cat S62 Pro has IP68 and IP69 protection. The former means that the handset can be immersed to a depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. The latter means that the device can withstand high pressure water spray. According to Cat, the S62 Pro has been tested in even more difficult water conditions, but it comes with a warranty that covers immersion in the depths of the official IP ratings.
The Cat S62 Pro will be available in the US and will be unlocked later this month
The handset can also withstand drops of up to six feet on a steel surface. In addition to the protection against Gorilla Glass 6, a factory-installed screen protector is included for additional protection against butter fingers. The handset also meets the military standard MIL-STD-810, which includes vibration and thermal shock resistance. While Android 10 is preinstalled on the phone, an update to Android 11 will be released at some point. Originally equipped with an MRSP of $ 749, the Cat S62 Pro was lowered to $ 699 in the US.
