The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are now available for pre-order in the US market, but the carrier situation is a bit tricky right now. First of all, T-Mobile is the only major mobile operator whose 5G network can connect the OnePlus 9 series phones. According to AT&T, if you’re traveling with a different carrier, you can only use 4G LTE and just end up paying a 5G tax. The situation was no different for Verizon, but that will soon change.

Only the OnePlus 9 Pro supports Verizon’s faster UW 5G network

George Koroneos, CEO of Verizon, has revealed this OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro have been certified by Verizon to work on their 5G network. If you’ve been on a visible line, you can enjoy 5G on your OnePlus 9 series phone too. 5G certification applies to both business and regular tiers of Verizon service. So you don’t have to worry about being left out while running a business banking line. But there’s one more catch – the taste of Verizon 5G to enjoy on your OnePlus 9.

You see They see, OnePlus 9 only supports the sub-6 GHz bandThis means it can only work on the much slower Verizon 5G Nationwide network. This isn’t necessarily good news, however, as the Verizon 5G Nationwide network has speeds that are slower than 4G LTE. PCMag’s Sascha Segan recently ran some tests across multiple locations and found that Verizon’s 4G network is actually much faster than the nationwide 5G.

Verizon has yet to start selling the OnePlus 9 series

However, If you want to take advantage of Verizon’s Ultra Wideband (UW) 5G, you’ll have to buy the more expensive OnePlus 9 Pro because this is the only model in the series that supports the mmWave 5G band. While the carrier situation is resolved, Verizon has yet to officially begin selling the phones.

If you have a Verizon line and don’t want to switch providers, you can pre-order an unlocked OnePlus 9 or 9 Pro from the official OnePlus E-Store, Best Buy and B&H Photo Video in the US. Whichever retailer you choose, you can buy an unlocked OnePlus 9 or OnePlus 9 Pro and use Verizon’s 5G network.
