Samsung Blockchain Wallet can now manage and trade cryptocurrencies from third-party hardware wallets through an update on compatible Galaxy smartphones. Galaxy smartphone users can also keep up with the latest trends in the cryptocurrency system with a dedicated newsfeed app from leading news agencies. The blockchain wallet already supports Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies.
The update for Samsung’s blockchain wallet was announced on its press page. The press release said: “Hardware wallet support gives Galaxy Blockchain a consistent user experience when managing crypto assets from one convenient place. In addition to the Samsung Blockchain Keystore, Galaxy smartphones can now also be connected to hardware wallets such as the Ledger Nano S and Ledger Nano X. “
Since Samsung launched the Galaxy S10, it supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, ERC tokens, Tron (TRX) and TRC tokens, as mentioned earlier. Plus, Galaxy users can explore decentralized apps or DApps that use blockchain technology to authenticate exchanges of digital assets, also known as cryptocurrency.
Samsung claims that its blockchain transactions are made safe with defense quality using its Samsung Knox security platforms. “The private keys used for cryptocurrency and DApps are encrypted and stored in an area called the Samsung Blockchain Keystore that is isolated from the main operating system,” the press release said. “This information is further protected by a secure processor and can only be accessed by specifying the asset owner’s PIN or fingerprint.”
The South Korean tech giant will use the Samsung Blockchain SDK to give developers access to its blockchain ecosystem. “Developers can create DApps that can easily generate, store and manage blockchain accounts, and process transactions using APIs that are reserved for each ledger system,” the statement said. “It also provides APIs that allow DApps to securely sign for the transfer of virtual assets using third-party hardware wallets.” For more information on Samsung’s Blockchain Wallet and the Galaxy Blockchain Ecosystem, please visit the Samsung website.
