PlayStation VR is increasingly becoming a larger platform, especially with the upcoming release of PS5 VR. But no matter where you play your VR games, whether on PS4 or PS5, you will have an incredible experience. With PlayStation releasing new games almost every month, it’s hard not to be overwhelmed by what’s out there. Here are some of the unreleased VR games set to hit PSVR in the coming months. We look forward to adding a few titles to our list of the best PlayStation VR games, and we hope some of them grab your attention, too.

After the fall

Tired of post-apocalyptic experiences? Well you are in another. Developer Vertigo Games (developer of Arizona Sunshine) brings After the Fall to PlayStation VR. Los Angeles is set 20 years after a virus outbreak caused by designer drugs and is infected by these so-called snow breeds. As a seemingly immune survivor, you must help humanity take back what has been lost.

VPN offers: Lifetime license for $ 16, monthly plans from $ 1

After the Fall offers a shared world with seamless, cooperative gameplay, though you can play it as a lone wolf if you want. Players will explore ruins from the 1980s, craft and modify their gear, and take on ferocious hordes of enemies. However, be careful when you encounter a boss because these giants are extremely deadly.

Fracked

High-octane, explosive action awaits in Fracked, a first-person VR title developed exclusively for the Sony headset. According to the developer, Fracked promotes “relentless” run-and-cover “cannons with free and fluid skiing and climbing”. You are stuck in a fracking facility on a remote mountain and have to use all your wits and reflexes to escape the eponymous interdimensional enemies. This title takes full advantage of the PS Move controllers and puts you in the reluctant shoes of the hero.

It will also receive some PS5 enhancements during the release for PSVR on PS4, but they are not yet fully detailed. All we know is that gamers can expect improved frame rates, load times, and resolution. And if that’s not enough to interest you, developer nDreams describes Fracked as “a 2021 version of Die Hard or Cliffhanger” with a RoboCop satire thrown into it.

I expect you to die 2

Puzzle game fans can look forward to something in I Expect You To Die 2. Get ready for a top-secret task and use all the spy tactics in your belt in this James Bond-style thriller. And did I mention that telekinetic powers are also available to you? Do whatever you can to gather the information that you need. Just don’t try to die while you’re doing it.

I Expect You To Die 2 has a classic spy story, plus a fascinating setting for you to explore. The first game was well received by reviews and fans alike, so this sequel has a lot going for it. For me there is always room for more puzzle games in the market.

Mysterious places

Speaking of puzzle games, Puzzling Places is a 3D puzzle game available for PSVR. If you thought regular 2D puzzles might be challenging, this looks incredibly interesting. Puzzling Places seems to have many environments and buildings, and that’s because the developer was actually founded “with the aim of making real places explorable through VR”. A bug in 3D scan photogrammetry resulted in some pieces being mixed up and the idea for Puzzling Places was born.

According to the studio, each puzzle has multiple levels of difficulty, from 50 to hundreds of pieces that can take a few days to assemble. Traditional fans of puzzle boards should definitely give this a try.

Song in the smoke

After watching the trailer for Song in the Smoke, it almost reminded me of Far Cry Primal. The prehistoric wilderness shown here is all about survival. You have to fight deadly predators for valuable resources that you may have to keep alive. Craft weapons, set up camp, and hunt for your next meal.

Song in the Smoke seems to have some mystical elements too. His announcement post on the PlayStation blog mentioned a mysterious giant tree that you are forced to because of the visions of a shaman who seems to be out of this world. There are definitely some secrets beneath its surface, and they should be interesting to uncover.

Stride

Ever wondered what Mirror’s Edge would look like in virtual reality? Well, that’s the next thing you could get. Since you probably can’t do parkour in real life, do so in safety or VR with Stride. It’s not all about parkour, however, as you will have to fight enemies on the rooftops of the metropolis that you turn into a jungle gym. Stride offers an arena mode, a time run mode and an endless mode with infinite level generation.

If you are prone to motion sickness or dizziness this may not be the best game for you to play in VR. However, if you’re looking for a rush and want to play a quick action game, Stride seems like a great choice.

Winds and leaves

For anyone looking for something more relaxing and less violent, keep an eye out for winds and leaves. Your entire goal in the game is to grow the vegetation. As you explore, you’ll unlock new types of flora and equipment upgrades that can help you grow plants even faster. Their main means of movement are two stilts that players can feel through the PS Move controllers.

The developer said Winds and Leaves was influenced by The Man Who Planted Trees, an old French-Canadian cartoon from the 1980s. Based on an even older short story, it focuses on a man who spends his entire life reforesting a valley that is completely isolated from other people.

Zenith

JRPG fans can look forward to Zenith joining PSVR. This MMO features a colorful open world filled with beautiful environments, futuristic cities and intimidating beasts. The developer describes his ego fight as “hyper-immersive” and makes it easy for anyone to absorb it.

Some of Zenith’s multiplayer content includes world bosses, public events, and dungeons where you’ll have to do your best to overcome the challenges ahead. In a cool move that players are sure to appreciate, classes don’t define your role in the game. You can “refuel as an essence mage or heal as a blademaster”. Since this is an RPG, the choice is yours.

Which VR game are you looking forward to?

Although releases have slowed down with the pandemic, there are still some exciting games in our future like After the Fall and Song in the Smoke. After the Fall is one of those games that promises to advance the VR genre and show us what is possible in a VR world and with a very unique take on the post-apocalyptic world. These still have a general release date of 2021, but we’ll keep you updated if that changes.

While we’re all excited to see if any of these titles will be released, it may be time to check out the upcoming PS4 and PS5 games while you wait for more games to hit your headset.
