Xiaomi recently launched its first foldable device – the Mi Mix Fold in China. It’s an inward-folding phone like the Galaxy Z Fold series. It is now being pointed out that leaflets from OPPO and Vivo could be on the market soon. Rumor has it that foldable displays for upcoming smartphones from these two companies are about to go into mass production.
The latest development comes from tipster Digital Chat Station (translated) via Weibo. They showed that two versions are being worked on. One is an 8-inch flexible display while the other is a 7-inch display. Both are inwardly folding panels, just like the Mi Mix Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The 7-inch display is said to already have a prototype as it is closer to mass production. It should be noted that production has been delayed compared to January this year.
According to the tipster, the foldable Vivo will have an impressive hinge design for its flexible 8-inch screen. In addition, it offers a 6.5-inch display when folded. However, a specific timeframe for the commercial launch has yet to be confirmed.
It was previously rumored that a foldable OPPO will hit the market this June. According to the previous report, OPPO is expected to launch its first foldable smartphone in the second quarter, starting in April and ending in June. The manufacturer presented a rollable smartphone last year.
The rollable phone is called OPPO X and has a flexible OLED display with a size of 6.7 inches. It can be rolled out using a dynamic scroll frame to give you 7.4 inches of screen space. In addition, the display is unwound using a side button that you swipe to retract and extend the flexible control panel. However, the upcoming phone is not rollable, and the featured device will not be available anytime soon.
