New smartphones, OTA updates and technologies introduced in February 2021 – monthly summary

In February there were several big announcements from the Chinese smartphone makers. Further announcements are planned for the coming weeks. Fossil Gen 5E Smartwatch Introduced in India

Fossil has launched its latest Gen 5E smartwatch with Wear OS in India. It’s priced at Rs 18,495 and is currently available on Flipkart. The Fossil Gen 5E is available in sizes 42 mm and 44 mm and has a 1.19-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels. Under the hood is Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC as well as 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of onboard storage. The company claims that the Gen 5E Wear OS smartwatch will last more than 24 hours on a single charge. In addition, it also supports fast charging, which can be charged from 0% to 80% in just 50 minutes. With the built-in microphone and speaker, the smartwatch can also be used for Google Assistant and voice calls. It can be paired with Android and iOS devices.

Samsung is launching the Galaxy M02 smartphone for 6,999 rupees

Samsung has launched another affordable smartphone called the Samsung Galaxy M02 with the Galaxy M series. The device has a 6.5-inch HD + Infinity-V display and is operated by a MediaTek MT6739W quad-core processor at 1.5 GHz. The Galaxy M02 will be available in 2 GB and 3 GB RAM variants. In terms of cameras, there is a 13MP + 2MP dual camera setup on the back and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. It runs immediately on Android 10 with the One UI skin on top. It is supported by a 5,000 mAh battery and has a microUSB port for charging. The device is 9.1mm thick and weighs 206 grams, is available in blue, red, gray and black and will retail from Rs 6,999.

POCO M3 with 6000mAh battery makes its debut in India

POCO M3 is the company’s latest smartphone to be launched in India. It comes with 6GB of RAM and is available from Rs 10,999. On the front, the device has a 6.53-inch display with Full HD + resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels) and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood is the 11 nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 Mobile Platform, which is coupled with an Adreno 610 GPU and 6 GB LPPDDR4x RAM. It offers 64 GB / 128 GB of internal storage as well as a dedicated MicroSD card slot. However, the device still runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 10. The rear camera setup includes a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel depth camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. There is an 8-megapixel front camera with an aperture of f / 2.05. While the device has a 6,000 mAh battery, the company also offers an 18 W fast charge in the box.

Realme X7 & Realme X7 Pro launched with 5G support

In the first week of this month, Realme launched the Relame X7 and Realme X7 Pro 5G smartphones in India. While the Realme X7 Pro is operated with a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor, the Realme X7 has the Dimensity 800U chipset. Both devices have Full HD + AMOLED displays with a pinhole camera cutout for taking the selfie camera. Interestingly, the devices immediately run on the Android 10-based Realme UI 1.0. However, the company has confirmed that the Realme UI 2.0 update will be rolling out very soon. The Realme X7 Pro with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage costs Rs 29,999. The Realme X7 is available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants at a price of 19,999 and 21,999 rupees, respectively.

OnePlus 9 Pro to get the Hasselblad branded camera setup

Rumor has it that OnePlus will launch OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus 9R and OnePlus Watch in the coming months. According to the leaked image of the OnePlus 9 Pro prototype, the company could partner with Hasselblad for the camera system of its 2021 flagship OnePlus smartphone. The other leaks also suggest that the device has a Quad HD + display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz. Obviously, the device is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Mobile Platform. It could also continue to offer an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Speaking of fast charging, the device will likely support 65W wired fast charging and 45W wireless fast charging. Although there is no official confirmation, the company could launch these flagship smartphones by the end of March 2021.

Samsung Level U2 bluetooth headset now available in India

The newly introduced Level U2 Bluetooth headset from Samsung is the successor to the Level U, which was originally introduced in 2016. Samsung opted for the same neckband style design as its predecessor. An included set of earbuds also includes fins for a more secure fit. In terms of audio quality, the Level U2 headset comes with 12mm drivers for a balanced and rich audio experience. The battery life is up to 18 hours of uninterrupted music playback on a single charge. It supports Bluetooth 5.0 and has a USB Type-C port for charging. The Samsung Level U2 stereo headset is available in black and blue color options. It is currently available online through Flipkart for Rs 1,999.

Nokia 1.4 Android Go Edition smartphone announced

Nokia 1.4 is the latest smartphone to launch with Android Go Edition OS. It is currently available in Europe for € 99 and will soon be available in world markets. The 2021 Nokia 1 phone has a 6.5 inch HD + display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 mobile platform and has up to 3 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of internal storage. There are 8MP + 2MP dual cameras on the back and a 5MP single camera on the front. While the device is running on Android 10 (Go Edition), it can be upgraded to Android 11 (Go Edition). There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. It also has a dedicated hardware button to access the Google Assistant. It is housed in a 4,000 mAh battery and supports a 5 W charging input.

Samsung is releasing a UI 3.0 update for the Galaxy M30

Samsung has initially started rolling out the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update for the flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note smartphones. Recently, the company also updated the Galaxy M31, Galaxy M21, and Galaxy F41 smartphones to the latest version of One UI. Now, the Galaxy M30s is the latest affordable Samsung smartphone to get the One UI 3.0 Android 11 update. According to the company, the improved dynamic memory allocation in One UI 3.0 will also improve the device’s performance. You can also find some improvements in the standard camera app, such as: B. improved autofocus and automatic exposure. In addition, the gallery app has new search functions and categories.

Snapdragon 888-based Xiaomi Mi 11 goes global

Xiaomi has announced the flagship smartphone Mi 11 in Europe. It is available in Midnight Gray and Horizon Blue and will retail from € 749. Unlike in China, the company offers 55 W GaN fast charging in retail packaging. The device comes with a 2 year guarantee and 1 year free screen change. Samsung Galaxy F62 becomes official India

Samsung officially launched the Galaxy F62 in India. The device is operated with the 7 nm octa-core processor Exynos 9825 and the MP12 GPU Mali-G76. The device will be available in the memory versions 6 GB + 128 GB and 8 GB + 128 GB. On the front there is a 6.7-inch Infinity-O-Super AMOLED display with Full HD + resolution. Realme launched the a few days ago Narzo 30A and Narzo 30 Pro 5G Smartphones in India. The Narzo 30 Pro 5G with MediaTek Dimensity 800U is the cheapest 5G smartphone in the country. It is available in 6 GB + 64 GB and 8 GB + 128 GB memory versions and costs Rs 16,999 and Rs 19,999 respectively. The Realme Narzo 30A has the Helio G85 processor with 3 GB / 4 GB RAM and 32 GB / 64 GB internal Storage equipped. Both devices come with Realme UI 1.0 based on Android 10 Realme Buds Air 2 TWS earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Bluetooth 5.2 for only 3299 rupees. Another new product is the donut-shaped Realme Motion Activated Night Light priced at 599 rupees.
