Lenovo never really made a name for itself in the smartphone world, but occasionally the brand produces an interesting model and today is certainly one of those days. Get to know the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2, hands down one of the best best gaming phones.

Up to 18 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage

The Legion Phone Duel 2 is a beast in every possible way. It has a gigantic 6.92-inch display paired with thin side bezels and a (seemingly) uniform forehead and chin setup with no hole or notch in sight. Lenovo’s selected AMOLED panel offers full HD + resolution (2460 x 1080p) in super form – smooth refresh rate of 144 Hz. Support for 8-bit content is also included. To ensure the best possible gaming experience, there is a 720 Hz touch sampling rate.

All of this is paired with the latest mobile technology, so that there is a Snapdragon 888 chipset in addition to up to 18 GB (!) LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB UFS 3.1 memory. You will also find support for mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G networks.

Two fans, a pop-up selfie camera and shoulder buttons

The newest gaming phone from Lenovo is designed to be used in landscape orientation. “What does that mean?” We hear you say For one, the huge camera setup on the back is right in the middle of the phone, making it easier to hold while gaming. The 44-megapixel flip-up selfie camera with autofocus is also on the side of the device, so I think Legion Phone Duel 2 owners can use it for live streaming while playing games on the phone.

Incidentally, the setup of the rear view camera consists of a 64-megapixel main sensor and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. There’s also an LED flash and microphone in the bump, but the story doesn’t end there.

As mentioned above, the Legion Phone Duel 2 is a gaming phone. To keep the incredibly fast Snapdragon 888 chipset from getting too hot, Lenovo built in not just one, but two physical fans. One acts as an intake fan – it’s the one visible on top of the camera – and the other acts as a hidden exhaust fan. According to Lenovo, the split design keeps the heat away from the user’s hands.

Other notable features are two front-facing speakers with Dolby Atmos support, a dedicated game mode for a better audio experience in the game, two capacitive touch points on the back, two force touch points on the display and four so-called shoulder buttons. The aim is traditional gaming – Reproduce controller experience.

90W turbocharger with two USB-C ports

The package of the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 is rounded off by a crazy battery setup. First, it consists of two separate cells, each rated 2,750 mAh, which corresponds to a combined capacity of 5,500 mAh.

The phone supports 65W fast charge by default, but 90W turbo charge is available separately. It uses two USB-C cables instead of one, which is why the Legion Phone Duel 2 has two USB-C ports – one on the bottom and one on the side. Using Lenovo’s 90W turbo charging technology enables a full charge in 30 minutes.

Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 release date and price

Lenovo’s ridiculous Legion Phone Duel 2 is coming to Europe in May. The 12/256 GB model costs 799 euros, while a 16/512 GB version will be available for 999 euros and comes with the 90 W charging station.
