Gaming smartphones are generally more powerful than required. Do you know who needs 18GB of RAM on an Android smartphone? However, several phone manufacturers have stepped in and shipped some of the most powerful smartphones in history. ASUS has its ROG range, while Nubia has Red Magic devices and Black Shark has its own gaming phones. Now Lenovo has launched the successor to its first generation Legion gaming phone.
The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 has an updated design, larger battery capacity, and much more. It has a 6.92-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 20.5: 9, resolution of 2460 x 1080, and refresh rate of 144 Hz. That’s not all; The device has a touch sampling rate of 720 Hz, which is more than double that of the ROG Phone 5. It should offer a response time of 3.8 ms. It is also an 8-bit HDR display with a Pixelworks i6 chipset. The screen is under the protection of Gorilla Glass 5.
Like all other flagship and gaming smartphones, the Legion Phone Duel 2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It comes with 8 GB of RAM on the base model and 18 gigs on the top-end variant. UFS 3.1 storage starts at 128 gigs and goes up to 512 GB.
With Dolby Atmos and a game mode that enhances the in-game sound experience, you get stereo front speakers. There are also four noise-canceling microphones and a double smart amplifier. The smartphone has a 5,500 mAh battery with support for a maximum of 90 W fast charging via two USB-C ports. However, it does come with a 65W fast charger.
In terms of optics, the Legion Phone Duel 2 includes a 64-megapixel OmniVision primary camera that is accompanied by a 16-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens. You are missing out on telephoto and macro sensors, however. There is a 44-megapixel pop-up selfie shooter on the right edge of the device, which can be used to keep the first view of the device in landscape mode. The phone can record in 8K at 24 fps and 4K at 60 fps.
The Legion Phone Duel 2 also borrows a function from gaming laptops. It comes with an active cooling system with two turbo fans. One of them is a 29-blade, 12,500 RPM intake fan, while the other is an exit fan that removes the hot air. According to Lenovo, the fans have a noise level of 24.7 dB and a service life of up to 50,000 hours, which corresponds to almost 6 years. It also contains a vapor chamber with liquid cooling for passive cooling. You also get four ultrasonic shoulder buttons, double force touch sensors, and double capacity buttons.
The smartphone is available in Ultimate Black and Titanium White and comes in different configurations –
- 8 GB RAM + 128 GB = ¥ 3699 (~ $ 565)
- 12 GB RAM + 128 GB = ¥ 4099 (~ $ 625)
- 12 GB RAM + 256 GB = € 799 / ¥ 4399 (~ $ 672)

- 18 GB RAM + 512 GB = ¥ 5999 (~ 916 USD)
