Due to a … questionable design selection, an inconspicuous number of memories and a probably excessive starting price, the 6.3-inch Pixel 3 XL wasn’t exactly well received by mobile consumers back in 2018.
Of course, the giant, jumbo-sized “pure Google” veteran is no longer available for a whopping $ 899 and up, but we wouldn’t go far to believe it As the best smartphone under $ 400 in 2021, there is definitely a case for well under $ 300 purchase.
We’re talking brand new, unused, unopened, and undamaged units on sale today for just $ 214.99 with unlocked support for all major (and minor) US airlines. This isn’t a seedy eBay deal either, mind you, which instead comes from Amazon’s own Woot and offers you a 6 month manufacturer’s warranty as well as free standard shipping … if you’re a Prime member.
At $ 215, you can expect to get an entry-level 64GB Pixel 3 XL configuration (without a microSD card slot). However, you only have to pay $ 40 more to expand the internal storage to a far more generous 128 gigs. Unfortunately, both variants have a fairly modest 4GB of RAM on deck, but for what it’s worth, Google has made every (software) effort to keep this hardware limitation from completely affecting your user experience.
Speaking of software, it’s certainly worth noting that the Pixel 3 XL (just like its little brother) comes with a warranty Android 12 update on the way this fall, which we can’t say about many other budget-friendly phones today.
This should help you look past that terrible notch more easily, especially when you also factor in the high-end screen resolution, powerful Snapdragon 845 processor, and surprisingly powerful (to date) single 12-megapixel rear camera. The Pixel 3 XL isn’t a flagship 2021 killer, but at $ 214.99 and up, it can definitely outperform the vast majority of “modern” mid-rangers in terms of money.
