Free Apps of the Week: These Android and iOS apps are temporarily free!

As every week, NextPit has a selection of great deals on mobile apps and games for iOS and Android that are usually paid for but are currently free to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

This list is updated weekly and from this week two weekly editions will be published on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Between the time this article was published and the time you actually read this article, some apps may have been paid for again.

If you manage to find an app for free but can’t really use it right now, we recommend that you install the app anyway and then delete it from your device. This way the app becomes part of your app library and you can reinstall it for free if necessary. A great way not to miss out on a short-lived promo.

Temporarily free Android apps in the Google Play Store

Android productivity / lifestyle apps are temporarily available for free on the Google Play Store

Android games are temporarily free in the Google Play Store

  • One Up – lemonade rush!(€ 1.89): A platform and temple run game where you play as a plumber who is NOT Mario and has to escape a lemonade frenzy.
  • LIMBO(€ 4.79): A very cool adventure and storytelling game that reminds me a lot of the excellent Little Nightmares.
  • 2048 – Puzzle ($ 4.99): A puzzle game where the goal is to reach the number 2048 by lining up numbered squares in a grid.
  • Deadly Traps Premium – Adventures of Hell(€ 1.29): Another platform game that relies heavily on its challenging, even punitive, difficulty level.

  • Mind Games Pro(€ 3.09): A brain training app with loads of mini-games (how did that go out of style since Doctor Kawashima in 2005?).

  • Sudoku challenge(€ 2.19): What would a selection of free apps be without the traditional and obligatory SUDOKU!

Temporarily free iOS apps in the Apple App Store

The iOS productivity / lifestyle apps are temporarily available free of charge from the Apple App Store

  • Kinoglitch Pro($ 4.99): A photo editing app for applying digital mosaic-like “glitch” effects.
  • LunarSight(€ 2.29): The app offers you a whole range of information about the phases of the moon, their position and orbit at any location and especially at any date.
  • Midori(€ 10.99): KAGE BUNSHIN NO JUTSU! If you want to understand this phrase, this Japanese dictionary that is Midori might be useful for you. Again, I picked it up mainly because of its high price.
  • Balance: Meditation & Sleep (€ 54.99)): A wellness app with various meditation programs. The promo does not apply to the app, but to the annual subscription, which is normally charged at € 54.99! However, make sure to cancel auto-renewal in settings.
  • MemoCam(€ 2.29): An app that allows you to scan or digitize documents or even manuscripts (via OCR).

  • Sudoku developed(€ 1.09): Thought You’d Escape Week’s Free Sudoku Because You Have an iPhone? I do not believe that!

  • Lightsynth (2.29 €): A photo app that supports ADR (Adaptive Dynamic Range) and allows you to adjust the dynamic range of your photos.

Temporarily free iOS games in the Apple App Store

All of these apps are only temporarily free. It is possible that at the time of reading this article, a few days after it was published, some claims have been repaid.

In any case, we update this article every week, usually on Saturdays. Have you discovered a broken link, an application is no longer free or do you have advice that you can give us? Then write me a message or leave a comment.

And if you can’t find what you’re looking for in this list, you might be luckier with our weekly list of the 5 Android and iOS apps of the week, also released every Saturday.

What do you think of our pick this week? Did you find any better apps or games for sale in the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store? Don’t hesitate to share your good offers in the comments.
