Apple AirTag launched 1000x600

Apple’s newly launched AirTag is now available on its official website in India. The company unveiled it during its Spring Loaded event last month. In addition to the AirTag, Apple also announced the M1-based 24-inch iMac and iPad pros, the Purple iPhone 12 and the new Apple TV 4K. The AirTag is sold in one and four packs for 3,190 and 10,900 rupees, respectively.

The Apple AirTag rumors first surfaced in 2019. It took almost two years for the company to officially reveal them. While it’s only available in white, the company offers free engravings with text and emojis. Apple also launched several accessories for the AirTag starting at 3,590 rupees. The AirTag has a diameter of 31.9 mm and a height of 8 mm.

In addition, it is also IP67 for water and dust resistance. It contains the Apple U1 chip and supports the precision finding function on iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 devices. It works with previous iPhones too, but it doesn’t have the precision finding feature. AirTag only works with iPhones iPod Touch under iOS 14.5 and higher and iPads under iPadOS 14.5 and higher.

The user-replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery that powers the AirTag provides one year of battery life. If the lost AirTag is within Bluetooth range, the user can either find it using the Find My app or ask Siri to find it. Beyond the Bluetooth range, it uses the Find My network, which is powered by billions of Apple devices, including the iPhone and iPad. Anyone with an NFC-enabled device can find out the details of the lost AirTag owner.

Apple has also developed several privacy-related features to avoid using AirTag to track strangers. The company also launched the Find My Accessory program for other manufacturers to implement AirTag-like technologies in each of their products.
